Writing Reflection

Explain one or more specific aspects of your writing that have improved this year. In this explanation, you must directly refer to at least two specific pieces of writing that you produced for this class. You may use any assignment, project, writing sample, draft, blog entry, etc. You should discuss the writing tips & strategies we studied, the processes & methods we used, the critiques & drafts we employed and the products we created (feel free to use these specific key terms to keep your reflection focused).

A specific aspect that I have improved was connecting my writing to current world or me. My civil war essay in my opinion was jut explaining the problem but never going further, for example I could have used the quotes in a way to connect it to more of the modern war and end it with my opinion to make it more personalized. A good example of a writing that I am proud that I achieved to connect with me was the nature writing because I connected all he did to me, I just reflective a lot more than in my first writing.

Describe one specific goal for your future writing. Your explanation of your goal(s) must include some or all of the following: writing samples from this year, writing strategies you have used in the past, writing strategies or techniques you would like to develop, examples from authors you respect, etc.

A writing goal I have is just making my writing high quality by using writing techniques I learned this year. A writing technique I would definitely use is use quantity to improve quality because this helped me with my Ampersand article. I used my Internship Photo Essay and just went from there to make a new and improve ARTICLE. This technique seems to help me a lot in other essays also, like in my Media Saves the Beach.

Literary Reflections

If I could bring any character to college with me from one of the novels we have read this year it would be Chris McCandless from Into the Wild. I would like him to be one of my classmate and my roommate because I know that he was an extraordinary person and had very interesting views on life and lived by them.

He would have been an incredible and opinionated addition to class and discussions. He was already an educated man “you don’t have to worry about me. I have a college education. I’m not a destitute. I’m living like this by choice”. He shows the character he is, not caring about what society thinks it’s the way to live. In class you always wants to see other people opinion, and Chris would definitely show the other side.

Not a lot of people had come in my life and change my way or views in life (well mostly because I never had any) so having Chris there would had change because I would had someone that would actually be there hammering me to have an opinion and voice it out. He touched a lot of people with meeting them not that long One of the people that Chris met once her meeting “there was something fascinated about him… he was hungry to learn about things. Unlike most of us he was the sort of person who insisted on living in our beliefs.” they had just met one time and when she found out about his death it amazed how much it bother her.

Trial Reflection

1. Summarize the facts of the case, as presented by the prosecution. Include relevant witnesses and testimony. The prosecutions case was that the Arizona law was going against the Constitution of the United States. They presented relevant evidence and had witnesses to back everything up. They showed that in the amendments it states that everyone has the right to a speedy trial. James Madison declared that everyone in AMERICAN SOIL has the rights that are state in the constitutions, no matter of their citizenship.

2. Summarize the facts of the case, as presented by the defense. Include relevant witnesses and testimony.

The Defense case was that they are only doing their job, which is protecting their CITIZENS of Arizona. They claimed that the Governor had tried reaching out to Federal offices complaining about the rise of crimes caused by ILLEGAL aliens but nothing was done, so they decided to take matters in their hand EVEN THOUGH IT’S A FEDERAL affair. The founder of the law stated that Constitution only covers the “rights of citizen’s, not the rights of the whole world”

3. What was the most significant piece of evidence, in your personal opinion?

The most significant evidence I heard in the trial was when the Prosecution cross examined the Governor of Arizona. I feel like they really did their job at grilling him. They showed that they is really no right way for a cop to stop a person and ask for their ids and papers without racial profiling.

I personally agreed with the verdict. I believe that once you are in the United State you should be cover under the Constitution and have the same rights: Everyone wants to a better life for themselves

Kurt Vonnegut is often compared to Mark Twain because of they shared the same sense of humor in their writing. Both of them express their questions of life through writings, for example about god and the world.

World War 2 Letter

Dear Henry,

We all miss you here, and wish that you are doing well so soon you can come back home. Mom says that she loves you very much and misses her big cheese. It's been a while since I last heard from you; last I heard you were stationed in Hawaii. How I wish you are here to see how things are things are changing.

I got a job at a factory, can you believe that? At first I could not believe it either. There are posters everywhere encouraging women to join the workforce encouraging us to work. “We can Do It” they say to us it look like they spoke to every women in the world because now we all working. Can you imagine that? Rosie the Riveter has showed women that we are not just stay at home women and clean, we are strong working women that deserve respect and any job we want. Now that all the men are at war after the Pearl Harbor attacks we are left here in charge and becoming head of the houses, our kids rely on Times are changing for the better, the United States is changing. Women have even had the chance to be apart of the Army, here they created what’s called the Women’s Army Corps. At first we all thought that it was a temporary place where they can shove a broad make them work auxiliary roles, but as if July it became a permanent branch to the ARMY.

Well I hope my talk can distract you a bit from everything you are going through over there, wherever you are. I know that you been stationed in Hawaii when the Pearl Harbor attacks happen, I read stories of how people could only saw dust around them, how they could hear the guns going off for so much time. So if you survived that then you can get through this, there is word that we are winning the war. Everyone hopes this to be true.

Semester Two. Blog #14

1. What are the most interesting aspects of World Wars 1 and 2?
WW1:
Nine million died on battlefield.
The assassination of the Archduke Franz Ferdinand by the Black Hand was last straw and set off the War.
Reason that US entered the war was because Germany send a letter to Mexico offering them to join their side.
116,000 soldiers of US army died in a short period of seven months
WW2:
The treaty of Versailles and thanks to the great depression caused WW2.
Hitler was involved with WW1.

2. What do you hope to learn about these wars?
I would just like to learn how this wars connect to us today. How can this have shaped our economy? Also just like a quick overview of both wars, just to refresh my mind, I have short term memory loss so I forgot some key points of the main points.

3. How/Why are these wars important today? How do they impact and/or inform our world today? hint: think about alliances, democracies around the world, cultures, international institutions, nuclear (and other) technologies, etc.
The only importance that I can think of is how violent the countries got with each other. They invented weapons that were very threatening, a whole new era of weapons were born.
